Who We Are

The Sickle Cell Family (TSCF) is a nationally registered non-governmental organization; (Reg. No 00NGO/R/8879) dedicated to improving survival, dignity, and quality of life for people living with sickle cell disease in Tanzania. We work at the intersection of healthcare, community systems, education, and policy to ensure no life is lost due to preventable causes.

OUR VISION: A Tanzania where a person with sickle cell disease lives a dignified, long, and valuable life.

OUR MISSIONS;
1. Advocating for accessible HYDROXYUREA and FOLIC ACID for all sickle cell patients.

2. Spreading awareness on preventing new sickle cell patients through screening and PRE-MARITAL counseling.

3. Uniting our communities to gain knowledge about SICKLE CELL DISEASE in Tanzania.

Guided by epidemiological trends and community needs, The Sickle Cell Family (TSCF) focuses its interventions in regions with a significant burden of sickle cell disease across Tanzania.

Our primary areas of operation are:

Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Geita, Mwanza, and Pwani

As illustrated in the regional distribution map, these areas show a higher composition of individuals affected by sickle cell disease and carriers of the sickle cell gene. This reality underscores the urgent need for targeted awareness, early screening, patient follow-up, and family support services.

Through community outreach, education programs, patient registration, and caregiver support initiatives, TSCF works closely with families and local stakeholders to ensure that individuals living with sickle cell receive timely information, dignity in care, and access to support when they need it most.

Our presence in these regions reflects our commitment to reducing preventable suffering and strengthening community resilience where the need is greatest.
