Project Title

  • Establishment of C-Connection School Sickle Cell Awareness Clubs

C-Connection School Sickle Cell Awareness Clubs is a school-based initiative by The Sickle Cell Family (TSCF) designed to empower students with accurate knowledge about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), genetics, prevention, and the importance of informed health decisions.

The initiative was launched in Pwani Region, Tanzania, starting at Kinabaha Secondary School, where TSCF conducted educational sessions with students on Sickle Cell Disease and genetic education.

Through the initiative, students were introduced to key concepts related to SCD, including how the condition is inherited, the importance of understanding one’s genetic status, prevention and early awareness, and the role young people can play in sharing accurate information within their families and communities.

The project also aims to create a foundation for student-led Sickle Cell awareness clubs, enabling young people to become peer educators and advocates who can help spread accurate information about SCD within schools and surrounding communities.
